The Battle of The Bay

As all you 49er and Raiders fans know, your two teams duked it out yesterday in the Oakland Colosseum. It all started 5 o'clock, when the gates opened and people were allowed to take their seats for a heated game. The 49ers kicked off first to the Raiders who returned the ball from the 3-yard line to the 23. The first few plays of the series were long pass plays, completed by Jason Cambell, that got the entire stadium excited. This opening drive for the Raiders resulted in a touchdown that got the crowd ecstatic, overwhelming the 49er fans' jeers.

As the game progressed, both teams traded scores. In the third quarter, a significant play occurred where Jason Cambell rolled out from a play action play, and was sacked from behind by one on the 49ers' defensive linemen. This tackle was so harsh, he was knocked unconscious. The carts came and carried Jason off the field. At that point the teams were at a standby and neither scored, until the last 2 minutes of regulation time where the 49ers had a long drive where the Raiders almost prevented them from scoring. Unfortunately, the couldn't stop the power run by Anthony Dixon on the 1 yard line for the winning touchdown. All you could've heard was "boo-ing" by the fans of the Raiders in disgust in that lack of ability to tackle one man that disappointed thousands. In the end the 49ers came out on top and the Raiders are beaten on their home field with the final score of 28-24. As for the fans, they go home from an exciting meeting between two local teams. Let me know what you think about the game and the seasons to come for either teams.
Thanks

Starting Off

The San Francisco 49niners and the Oakland Raiders are the NFL football teams in the Bay Area that have created tension, even as much as a rivalry between these franchises. Very rare are there people who are fans of both, and even more unlikely, do they share their beliefs with fans of either team to be deemed as a traitor. However, as being one of these people, I wanted to use this opportunity to get both sides of the story; stats, opinions and other colorful comments. This blog is meant to break down these two Bay Area football franchises and enable expression. Like a kickoff, this blog may start off slow, but this blog is going to beat down on some key points.
